I have been a Lucas film fanatic since 1977 and saw the original Star War in theaters THREE TIMES. It blew my mind.
This is unbelievable. Firstly, the link to the Atlantic article should work; it is a gift link. What excellent writing from a fellow fanboy of Star Wars and George Lucas, and by extension, Joseph Campbell and “The Hero with 1,000 Faces” ABOUT STORYTELLING.
Mr. Lucas’s latest achievement is the Museum for Narrative Art in Los Angeles. According to the article author, it
“is a swooping, brain-beggaring, super-sexy, twin-bodied leviathan of a megastructure, white as the gown of Princess Leia, half spaceship, half cetacean, all curves, Shangri-la for skateboarders if they could ever get inside.”
As a fanatic who worships at the feet of master storytellers, I must go and see this.
In my career as CMIO, I have learned to tell stories, because stories beat data, and the only thing that beats a story is a better story, backed by data.
And sometimes, stories are just so dang fun.
