Until now, building strands of DNA consumed massive amounts of chemicals, energy and time. Now, localized "deprotection" chemistry allows assembling DNA on a chip. Amazing.

I love early reports from research labs and the dreams one can have about the tools we are building and the implications for the future. Perhaps: DNA level microstorage of literature and knowledge. Perhaps: blueprints for organs and organisms stored for reproduction.
