Advance copy of CT’s book is posted on Amazon: free for next 5 days

The title: "It's Not About the Tech: From Potholes to Piglets, Real Life Lessons in Health IT" It is a distillation of 30 years of lessons from working in informatics in leadership at a large academic and integrated health system.

I have been working on drafts of this book for the past few years, on weekends and in my off-hours. Some of you have been kind enough to react to early drafts. Although some of the material is drawn from posts from this blog, much of it is brand new material.

QR code to amazon.com for the Kindle ePub of the book. It is a free giveaway from 5/21 until 5/25 intended for Amplify AMIA attendees.

In June, I will finish the book and publish it including a print version. Sign up below to be notified about the final print and final ePub versions of the book.

This book is written for informaticists and medical leaders working at the intersection of medicine and technology, a conjunction that is growing rapidly, especially with the introduction of predictive as well as generative AI. I think some of my hard lessons might be useful to you. I call this conjunction Practical Informatics.

Here’s the link to a page describing my book and to sign up to be notified about the print version of the book. The final print book should be ready by mid June 2026.

It has been a blast this week to meet up with new and old friends at Amplify AMIA 2026. I look forward to ongoing conversations.
